Fort Matanzas St. Augustine Florida PDF Print E-mail

We recently had a family reunion in Palm Coast, Florida and on Saturday we traveled over to St. Augustine and to Fort Matanzas. I grew up about a half hour south of Fort Matanzas but for some reason had never visited. The fort is situated on the Matanzas River which leads to the Atlantic Ocean. The fort was constructed in 1740 and designated a National Monument in 1924. You have to take a ferry to get to the fort. I was suprised that there was not any cost for entering the park or taking the ferry across to the fort.
